High-level conference on launch of International Decade for Strengthening Peace to be held in Dushanbe in May 2027

According to Khovar, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon announced this on 2026-10-15 in his speech at the Seventh Meeting of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia in Baku.

He said that strengthening peace and trust is not only a political position for Tajikistan, but also an important direction of its foreign policy. He added that Tajikistan had put forward the initiative to proclaim 2027-2036 as the "International Decade for Strengthening Peace for Future Generations", which was adopted by the UN General Assembly.

Rahmon expressed confidence that the implementation of the Decade's goals would create a suitable basis for constructive dialogue between states, a culture of peace and conflict prevention, and said the conference would help ensure a successful start to the Decade and further strengthen peace, dialogue, solidarity and cooperation worldwide.
