Speech on the 35th Anniversary of State Independence at the Central Stadium in Khorugh

The President of Tajikistan delivered a speech at the central stadium in Khorugh and congratulated the people of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region and the city of Khorugh on the 35th anniversary of state independence. He described the anniversary as a symbol of unity, national self-awareness and continued development across the country.

The speech said that 1,362 facilities had been planned for construction and reconstruction in the region’s cities and districts ahead of the anniversary, while 1,545 facilities had already been built and put into use by residents, entrepreneurs and philanthropists. The remarks also highlighted Badakhshan’s tourism, cultural and natural potential, including international roads, the Wakhan Valley, Lakes Sarez and Karakul, and healing springs.

The Head of State called on young people to remain vigilant in defending independence, national interests and the country’s historical values, and to contribute to the future of the state through knowledge, responsibility and initiative. He concluded by wishing the residents of the region health, happiness and a peaceful life.
