A Khovar analysis describes Deepfake as one of the most dangerous digital threats and calls for stronger detection tools, legal safeguards and digital literacy.
DUSHANBE, 2026-09-16 /NIAT Khovar/. In today's world, where the development of information and communication technologies and digitalisation is advancing rapidly, information security has become one of the priority areas of state policy and national security. Fast progress in artificial intelligence and digital technologies has created wide opportunities, but it has also increased the risk of new, unprecedented threats. One of the most complex and dangerous new digital threats in the global information space is Deepfake technology.
The article explains that Deepfake, based on advanced artificial intelligence methods including generative adversarial networks, can create or alter images, audio and video so accurately that it becomes very difficult to distinguish them from reality. The author says this technology undermines public trust in the authenticity of information and creates serious risks in political, economic, financial and social spheres.
The report concludes by stressing the need for automated detection tools, Digital Watermarking and blockchain, stronger legal provisions, improved digital literacy among the population, and broader international cooperation against transnational cybercrime.
