Iran's First Vice-President told Tajikistan's prime minister that bilateral cooperation should be expanded beyond formal protocol, especially in trade, the economy, energy and transport links.
Dr Mohammad Reza Aref, meeting Qohir Rasulzoda, thanked the government and people of Tajikistan for their warm hospitality and said Iran's approach to Tajikistan is not limited to the protocol of foreign relations. He pointed to the brotherly ties and the historical, cultural and linguistic common ground between the two countries, and called for more bilateral meetings and a higher level of cooperation.
Aref also thanked Tajikistan for its supportive positions during the Ramadan war and the attacks by the United States and the Israeli regime, and congratulated the country on the 35th anniversary of its independence. He said cooperation within the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation could help strengthen security, regional stability and transport infrastructure.
Qohir Rasulzoda said relations between the two countries are built on mutual trust and respect, and that Iran-Tajikistan cooperation should be expanded in economic, trade, health, tourism and cultural fields.
