Farewell ceremony for Emomali Rahmon at Khorugh airport

The notice says the farewell ceremony for the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, at Khorugh airport was held with pomp and with strong public participation from residents of Badakhshan. Local people saw off the Head of State with respect and joy, and a cultural programme was presented with the participation of more than 1500 performers and residents.

It adds that the two-day working visit to Khorugh was held to mark the 35th anniversary of the State Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan. During the visit, a number of facilities were commissioned, foundations were laid for new projects, and 87 other facilities were opened remotely. A further 185 facilities had been commissioned ahead of the visit.

The source also states that one of the main aims of the visit was to meet residents of the region face to face, hear their proposals, and review plans for further social and economic development of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region.
