On 22 October 2026, the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan hosted the final symposium of the iTAG-SATREPS project and the Central Asia SATREPS joint forum with scientists and researchers from Tajikistan and abroad. The meeting reviewed the project’s scientific and practical results, including geothermal heat pumps and improved energy efficiency.
According to Khovar, on 22 October 2026 the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan hosted the final symposium of the iTAG-SATREPS project and the Central Asia SATREPS joint forum. The event featured remarks by the President of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, Qobiljon Khushvaxtzoda, and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Tajikistan, Keiko Furuta. It was stressed that the international iTAG-SATREPS project, titled "Creation of a decarbonised energy supply system using ground-source heat pumps in Tajikistan", is a clear example of effective scientific and technological cooperation. The project has been implemented under the SATREPS programme with Akita University and the Centre for the Development of Innovative Science and Digital Technologies of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan. Over five years of implementation, the project has delivered several important scientific and practical outcomes. Groundwater and heat-transfer modelling was carried out, and the potential use of ground-source heat pumps in Dushanbe was studied. Based on the research, a geothermal potential map was prepared using artificial intelligence methods, and an economic assessment of scaling up the technology was also completed.
