Climate change has caused a fall in fruit yields in Tajikistan

In the first 9 months of this year, Tajikistan harvested 709.3 thousand tonnes of fruit products, down by 6.5 thousand tonnes, or 0.9%, from the same period in 2025. Agricultural experts said lower temperatures in March and April and prolonged rain were the main factors behind the decline.
In the first 9 months of this year, 709.3 thousand tonnes of fruit products were harvested across the republic. This was 6.5 thousand tonnes, or 0.9%, less than in the same period of 2025. Apricot output also fell by 115.1 thousand tonnes over the same period.
Agricultural scientists said the main factors behind the drop in productivity were climate change and unfavourable weather conditions. Lower air temperatures in March and April coincided with the flowering period of fruit trees. Persistent rain also restricted natural pollination by beneficial insects, including bees.
