Emomali Rahmon attend celebrations in Khujand marking the 35th anniversary of state independence

On 23 September 2026, Emomali Rahmon spoke at a festive event in Khujand, highlighting the value of independence, 35 years of achievements and development work in Sughd.
DUSHANBE, 23.09.2026 /Khovar National News Agency/. On the evening of 23 September, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation Emomali Rahmon took part in and addressed a ceremonial event in the city of Khujand, Sughd region, dedicated to the 35th anniversary of state independence.
The President congratulated participants and guests on the anniversary and said that independence and freedom are the most valuable national achievement. He said that over the 35 years of independence, including in Sughd region, major construction and development work has been carried out. In the past 5 years alone, 15,400 social and production facilities have been built, renovated and put into use, which is 3,400 more than the approved plan.
After the speech, a concert programme featuring artists from across the country and from Sughd region was held at the venue.
