Meeting with heads of delegations of SCO member states

Emomali Rahmon welcomed the guests to Tajikistan and wished the Council of Heads of Government success. He said current global developments underline the importance of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation as a platform for constructive dialogue and mutually beneficial cooperation.

The President said Tajikistan supports strengthening the Organisation's role in ensuring peace, stability, sustainable development and an atmosphere of trust across all areas of its work. He also stressed support for the peaceful settlement of conflicts and for strengthening the UN's central coordinating role. In this context, he referred to Tajikistan's initiative on proclaiming the International Decade for Peace for Future Generations for 2027-2036, which has been supported by the UN General Assembly.

The meeting also highlighted the expansion of trade and investment, transport links, industrial and agro-industrial cooperation, the digital economy, green technologies, and stronger energy and food security. The sides also discussed joint efforts against terrorism, extremism, radicalism, cyber threats, drug trafficking and transnational organised crime.
