In Yerevan, Tajikistan and Armenia discussed cooperation on attracting climate finance

On the sidelines of CBD COP17 in Armenia, the head of Tajikistan's environment committee discussed climate finance mobilisation and access to international funds with an ARMSWISSBANK representative.
In Yerevan, Bahodur Sheralizoda, Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, met with Ara Makaryan, Deputy General Director and Director of the Business Development and Accreditation Department of ARMSWISSBANK. The meeting took place during the Tajik delegation's participation in the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP17) in Armenia.
The sides discussed cooperation on attracting climate finance, the accreditation process for private and state banks to access international climate funds, and the role of national financial institutions. Tajikistan's progress in mobilising climate finance and recent Green Climate Fund projects worth a total of 190 million dollars were also highlighted.
The successful experience of ARMSWISSBANK was noted. In February 2025, it became the first and only private institution in Armenia accredited by the Green Climate Fund, gaining direct access to climate finance.
