Emomali Rahmon receives Li Qiang

On 2026-10-19 at the Palace of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, received Li Qiang, Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, who is in Tajikistan on an official visit and to attend the Council of Heads of Government meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.
At the start of the talks, Emomali Rahmon said Tajikistan attaches particular importance to strengthening and expanding cooperation with China. Li Qiang said China consistently supports the development of friendly Tajikistan and will continue to assist in implementing priority joint projects.
The sides discussed the expansion of economic cooperation, including trade turnover, which reached more than 2.5 billion dollars in January-August of this year. They also focused on new mutually beneficial projects in industry, energy, transport, infrastructure and agriculture, as well as the use of modern technologies, including artificial intelligence, the creation of new jobs and staff training.
