Development of interregional co-operation between Khatlon and Penza discussed

On 24.10.2026 in Dushanbe, the development of interregional co-operation between Khatlon Region and entities of the Russian Federation was discussed, with a focus on expanding the region's economic and humanitarian potential under a new co-operation agreement with Penza Region.

The matter was raised on 22 October during a meeting between Khatlon Region governor Davlatali Said and Sergei Melnikov, deputy chair of the Legislative Assembly of Penza Region of the Russian Federation. The sides reviewed the current state and prospects of bilateral relations.

They also discussed Khatlon's potential in agriculture, industry, tourism, energy and product processing. Further co-operation in trade and the economy, exchange of experience in the agro-industrial sector, the introduction of modern technologies and the strengthening of humanitarian ties were identified as key areas of future work.
