In Dushanbe, an academic event titled the "First Seminar on the Tajikistan-Korea Cooperation Strategy" was held at the initiative of the Centre for Strategic Research under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan and in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Tajikistan.
The main purpose was to review the practical results of the official visit of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, to the Republic of Korea and his participation in the "Central Asia - Republic of Korea" Summit, which took place on Gregorian 2026-09-16 and Gregorian 2026-09-17 in Korea. Participants also discussed the prospects for bilateral relations, priority areas of economic and investment cooperation, and ways to expand ties in education, culture, modern technologies and the training of highly qualified specialists.
It was noted that a solid basis of friendly and partnership relations has been formed between Tajikistan and Korea. Bilateral trade in 2024 exceeded USD 150 million, and in the first six months of 2026 it rose by nearly 30% compared with the same period a year earlier. It was also reported that more than 350 Tajik students are studying in Korea, while Korean language centres operate at eight higher education institutions in Tajikistan.
