On 27 October, Tajikistan's President Emomali Rahmon and Rustami Emomali put the Eco Block LLC building materials plant into operation in Shohmansur district of the capital.
The plant was built on the initiative of domestic entrepreneur Akbar Asadullo with the aim of supporting the country's fourth national goal - accelerated industrialisation. Officials say the new industrial site is the largest lightweight brick plant in Tajikistan in terms of production capacity.
It is equipped with modern machinery imported from leading global companies and has an annual output of 300,000 cubic metres of gazoblock. Officials said that part of this type of construction material used to be imported, but now 7 types of gazoblock are produced domestically. The complex also includes offices, a canteen and a dormitory.
