Glaciology in 35 years of independence: stages of revival, development and global leadership

Against this background, in 2026 the Glacier Study Centre of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan was transformed into the Institute for Glacier and Cryosphere Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan. Abdulhamid Qayumov, a leading research staff member of the institute and an academician of the International Academy of Ecology and Life Safety Sciences, commented on the centre's establishment and achievements during the independence period.
