CIS states improve the system for monitoring the quality of medical services and blood donation

Summary and context
At a meeting of the Standing Commission of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly on social policy and human rights, held on 15 October 2026 in St Petersburg, Tajik representatives considered and approved two documents on blood donation and the marketing of food products for children.
According to Khovar, the meeting took place on 15 October 2026 in St Petersburg. Tajikistan was represented by Munira Karimzoda, a member of the National Council of the Supreme Assembly and chair of the committee on social issues, health, science, education, culture, and youth and women’s policy, as well as Mujibakhon Javhari, chair of the Committee of the House of Representatives on social issues, family, and health protection.
The deputies examined and approved the model law on blood donation and its components. The document sets out the main principles for organising donation, safety requirements for blood and its components, and donors’ rights, and provides for the regulation of specialised services from collection and laboratory testing to processing, storage, transport, and medical use.
A draft set of recommendations on the marketing of food products for children was also approved. The text says the issue matters because advertising and promotion influence minors’ dietary habits and form part of measures to prevent overweight, obesity, and other health problems.
