Mehrgon: a festival of blessing, abundance and kindness

DUSHANBE, 2026-10-17 /AMIT “Khovar”/. The report says that Tajikistan’s state independence created real conditions for the revival of national customs and traditions, including Mehrgon. According to the text, the special attention of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, to the honouring and revival of national festivals made it possible to restore Mehrgon in the years of independence in all its splendour and to place it among the country’s best national festivals. It is celebrated every year with ceremony. The item also notes that Mehrgon is the festival of the harvest and the gathering of the results of farmers’ work.
