EBRD cooperation with Tajikistan in the energy sector is being strengthened

18.10.2026 — Tajikistan is expanding cooperation with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in the energy sector. The issue was discussed at a meeting between Tajikistan's Minister of Energy and Water Resources, Daler Juma, and the head of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development's office in Tajikistan, Holger Wiefel.

According to the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan, the sides discussed expanding cooperation in the energy sector and implementing important infrastructure projects, and expressed satisfaction with the current level of relations. They also discussed raising funds for projects to reduce electricity losses and improve the efficiency of the country's energy system.

At the same time, attention was given to the construction of new hydropower capacities with the bank's involvement.
