On 21 September, a new drinking-water line serving 19,000 people was inaugurated in the city of Istiqlol with the participation of Tajik President Emomali Rahmon.
According to the official source, drinking water for the residents of Istiqlol was brought from more than 17 kilometres away with the support of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the involvement of development partners. The project has removed the existing difficulties faced by residents in this area.
During the presentation of the project to the President, it was reported that the drinking-water line was laid with pipes 250 millimetres in diameter and the installation of special gravity-fed equipment. Construction work under the project began in November 2024, and 150 local residents were employed on the project.
With the implementation of this important social measure, the residents of Istiqlol have also gained an opportunity to grow vegetables and agricultural crops on household plots.
