In a speech marking the 35th anniversary of state independence, Emomali Rahmon said 140,000 hectares of land have been allocated to the country's population during the independence period.
Dushanbe, 2026-09-15 /Khovar/. President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation Emomali Rahmon said in his speech on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of state independence that 140,000 hectares of land have been allocated to the population during the years of independence, including 75,000 hectares in 1995-1997, known among the public as the “presidential lands”. He said the timely measure played a decisive role during the difficult transition years in reducing the risk of hunger, ensuring food supply, helping to form independent farmers, improving living conditions and enabling millions of people to obtain housing. In agriculture, major reforms were also carried out to ensure the efficient use of water and land and strengthen food security, with land use entrusted to its rightful owner, the farmer. According to the report, in 1992-1998 the government distributed 75,000 hectares as presidential lands to provide the population with food products. Another 75,000 hectares were then allocated as personal subsidiary plots for citizens, and these are now being used productively by residents to grow various crops. The plots were distributed in line with the rules: up to 0.15 hectares on irrigated land and up to 0.50 hectares on rainfed land.
