On Monday, 9 September 2026, Masoud Pezeshkian, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and Emomali Rahmon, President of Tajikistan, met on the sidelines of the summit of heads of state of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation in Kyrgyzstan.
The two sides reviewed the latest state of relations and joint cooperation between Tehran and Dushanbe, and exchanged views on ways to strengthen bilateral ties.
According to the report, Pezeshkian and Rahmon stressed the need to make use of existing capacities to further develop and deepen relations across different fields.
They also discussed ways to expand interactions and raise the level of joint cooperation, while underlining the importance of securing the mutual interests of both countries.
