A meeting was held at the Agency for the Protection of Historical and Cultural Heritage under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, where the draft Law of the Republic of Tajikistan on Archaeology was discussed. According to the agency, participants considered ways to finalise the text and improve its content.
Agency Director Sherali Khojazoda said that in the present era of globalisation, historical, archaeological and cultural heritage has become one of the main pillars for protecting national values and a factor in national self-awareness and identity. The meeting noted that, although more than 70% of the country's historical and cultural monuments are archaeological monuments, Tajikistan still does not have a sector-specific law on archaeology.
It was also recalled that the task of drafting the bill was set out in the Message of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, to the Majlisi Oli on the main directions of domestic and foreign policy of the republic dated 2025-12-16.
