Cotton growing. Late sowing, low cotton prices and a shortage of modern machinery are seen as the sector's main problems

By the start of October, farmers in the republic had harvested 136,100 tonnes of cotton, which is 45.0% less than in the same period of 2025. Under the plan, the country is meant to harvest nearly 400,000 tonnes of cotton in 2026.
Khovar says cotton growing in Tajikistan is one of the important branches of agriculture and industry, and special attention is given each year to its planting, cultivation and processing. However, in recent years the indicators for sowing and harvesting cotton have declined.
The report also says that the low purchase price of cotton has caused concern among farmers. The item was published on 2026-10-28.
