Tajikistan and Korea sign memorandum on cooperation in the energy sector

On 16 September 2026, during the official visit of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation Emomali Rahmon, to the Republic of Korea, a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the energy sector was signed between Tajikistan's Ministry of Energy and Water Resources and the Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO).

The document is aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation, holding consultations, exchanging information, studying areas for cooperation, implementing joint projects and reviewing investment opportunities in the energy sector.

The sides will also work together on advanced metering infrastructure (AMI), advanced distribution management systems (ADMS), geographic information systems (GIS), digitalisation of the energy sector, energy-saving solutions, building energy management systems (BEMS), battery energy storage systems (BESS), integration of distributed energy resources into the grid and modern energy-management technologies.
