Jamshed Nurmakhmadzoda: “Reliable statistics are an important basis for planning, progress and sound decisions in the interests of society”

Dushanbe, 20.10.2026 /NIAT “Khovar”/ — 20 October has been designated as World Statistics Day. The date is aimed at highlighting the key role of official and reliable statistical data in social development, the economy and the adoption of important state decisions.

The Statistics Agency under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan is the authorised body for implementing state policy in the sphere of statistics. Jamshed Nurmakhmadzoda said that, amid climate change, growing international attention to environmental protection, the development of a green economy and the reduction of natural disaster risks, improving the system for collecting, processing and presenting statistical data is of particular importance.
