During a working trip to Rasht District, Emomali Rahmon visited the Payvandi Rasht intensive orchard and an agricultural produce display.
The President of Tajikistan was informed that the intensive orchard was established on an area of 10 hectares and is fully irrigated through a drip system.
The orchard grows 18 types of fruit trees, including 8 kinds of apples, 6 types of pears, 2 types of plums and 2 types of apricots. Officials said this year’s harvest is good and the fruit collection exceeds 100 tonnes. More than 30 local residents are engaged in seasonal work during the harvest period.
An agricultural produce display was also set up in one part of the orchard, presenting the work of farmers and agricultural producers from the district. Emomali Rahmon visited the exhibition and gave specific instructions to expand agricultural activity further and increase the contribution of the Rasht Valley districts to food security and the country's export potential.
