Tajikistan and Korea strengthen trade and economic ties

DUSHANBE, 16.09.2026 /Khovar National News Agency/. Today, at the meeting of the heads of state of Tajikistan and Korea, esteemed Emomali Rahmon and esteemed Lee Jae-myung, issues of strengthening, expanding and deepening cooperation were discussed. Active participation by business circles, the attraction of direct investment and modern technology from the Republic of Korea into the Republic of Tajikistan was described as necessary. The strengthening of friendly relations with the Republic of Korea was also identified as one of the important directions of Tajikistan's foreign policy. Historical ties, long-standing friendship and the humanitarian values of the peoples of the two countries were highlighted. Active inter-state dialogue at the highest and high levels was described as an important factor driving multifaceted relations between the two friendly states. According to Leader of the Nation Emomali Rahmon, an appropriate legal basis for relations exists between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Korea. Priority is given to trade and economic links, investment, industry, energy, transport and logistics, digitalisation, technology and artificial intelligence, agriculture, labour migration, environmental protection and tourism. Opening a representative office of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) in Tajikistan was supported.
