Tajikistan is continuing to collect and store livestock feed for the winter season, with plans this year calling for more than 297,000 tonnes of rough feed and 110,000 tonnes of succulent feed.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Tajikistan, livestock feed is traditionally stocked from early summer to late autumn. The aim is to help supply the domestic market with meat and milk during the winter period.
By 14 August this year, 222,859 tonnes of rough feed and 32,017.6 tonnes of succulent feed had been collected, and work is still under way. In the context of climate change and limited water resources, timely feed collection and sufficient reserves are regarded as important for food security and the sustainable development of livestock farming.
