DUSHANBE, 27.10.2026 /Khovar/. At the initiative of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Tajikistan, an interdepartmental working group has been formed to identify the causes and consequences of road accidents and to take appropriate preventive measures.
At the group's meeting, attended by representatives of the relevant ministries and agencies, it was stressed that excessive speed, insufficient driving skills and the technical condition of vehicles are the main factors behind accidents in mountainous areas. It was also noted that a large share of imported lorries used on major construction projects are not equipped with an auxiliary braking system (retarder) or an automatic transmission.
The Ministry of Transport said monitoring, inspection and technical assessment of imported lorries will continue with the involvement of relevant bodies, and the final results will be submitted to the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
