Stent-graft placed in thoracic aorta in Tajikistan for first time, in patient from Uzbekistan

At Tajikistan's Republican Scientific Centre for Cardiovascular Surgery, doctors for the first time placed a stent-graft in the thoracic aorta of a patient from Uzbekistan with an aneurysm of the arch and descending aorta.
DUSHANBE, 2026-10-07. At the State Institution, the Republican Scientific Centre for Cardiovascular Surgery of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan, a stent-graft was placed in the thoracic aorta for the first time in a patient who came to the institution with an aneurysm of the aortic arch and descending aorta.
The operation was carried out without anaesthesia and without surgical incisions, by puncturing an artery from the right leg to the enlarged section of the aorta. A stent-graft, an artificial blood vessel, was then placed in that section and fully replaced the enlarged part of the aorta.
