Memorandum signed on developing scientific and educational activity in water diplomacy

A trilateral memorandum was signed in Dushanbe between the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Tajik Agrarian University named after Shirinsho Shotemur, and IWMI in Central Asia. A bilateral memorandum was also signed between the Academy of Public Administration and the agrarian university.
The documents were signed on 26 October 2026 in Dushanbe during a meeting involving Davron Safarzoda, rector of the Academy of Public Administration, Usmon Mahmadyorzoda, rector of the Tajik Agrarian University, Markus Durst, deputy head of the Swiss Cooperation Office in Tajikistan, and Barbara Janusz-Pawletta, head of IWMI's regional office in Central Asia.
The main aim of the trilateral cooperation is to develop a joint master's programme in water diplomacy within the regional initiative «Blue Peace Central Asia» (2025-2029), which is being implemented with Swiss support. The programme is intended to train specialists in water resource management, international water law and cross-border cooperation.
